There seems to be an overall consensus that there should be some type of lesson on using the internet. student friendly search engines should definitely be introduced in class. Especially when working with young students, I feel that it is important for teachers to model how to use search engines and perform efficient ways to obtain results. I also feel that it is important to allow students to explore other "fun" internet sources such as, online learning games. If the students are given some time to explore these sites, the students may be able to stay focused on a given task when instructed to. Parents should also be introduced to "child safety" tools to use at home.
